Description
Machine woven sash with orange ground and gold brocade chrysanthemum designs. The sash may have been hand made by recycling another piece of clothing. The sash has been created from two pieces of cloth stitched together to provide enough length. These pieces were folded in half lengthwise and stitched along one edge, but the seam is hidden because the edges have been folded back toward the middle to create 1/2" wide hems which were hand stitched together inside the fold. The orange ground is a satin weave. The brocade designs form chrysanthemums, leaves, and stems. Some of the gold layers have broken away from the central threads. There is a stain at one end of the sash.
