Doll - Artifacts

Description
Female Japanese doll standing upright with arms bent up at elbows in a red patterned silk kimono on a black lacquer base. Cloth covered face is hand painted. Black hair,made out of cotton threads, is pulled into topknot, tied with a red sash, and adorned with pink and red flower hair ornament which is missing a portion. Furisode style kimono is red silk with yellow, white, and light blue plaid design, plum blossoms, narrow folded paper packages, cherry blossoms, and maple leaves. The hem of the outer kimono is padded. Collar of kimono is banded in black silk. Kimono is lined in off-white silk crepe. Underkimono is red silk crepe. Obi is black silk with a silk brocade panel of silver floral lozenges on a red background. Obijime is red silk. She is holding a red and white shibori. She is wearing off-white tabi on her feet and natural wooden geta with red straps.
