One silk headcloth with multi-colored plaid design. The plaid is made up of various widths of stripes in magenta, green, orange, blue, and purple. The material has a self-edge on two sides, the other two have been cut. The use of colorful headcloths was a widespread custom in Mindanao and Sulu. These squarish pieces of cloth are also sometimes used as cloth belts, and are knotted around the regular trousers. Among certain sects, the way the headcloth is tied indicates social status, the formality of the occasion, or the village of origin. Donor's father collected a number of textiles while stationed in the Philippines as an Army officer - before 1917.
