Records were used when Chinese Americans immigrated to the US. During the 1882 Chinese Exclusion Act, Chinese couldn't become citizens and had to apply to enter the US. These files are now housed at the National Archives and can be accessed online. Includes photos, immigration records, and variety of other documents.
