Summary
Su Dongpo (also known as Su Shi) (1037 - 1101) was a Song Dynasty poet known for his calligraphy and his poetry in the style of "Ci" and "Ge" and "Fu". The poems included here of of the genre "fu," which is a lengthy, expository prose. Fu often shows off the writer's ability to capture a sublime scene in great verbal detail (as well as shows off the writer's vocabulary.) Characters are in negative-space calligraphy rather than woodblock printed; were perhaps copied from a stele engraving rubbing or something similar?
