3 copies Shiro Kashino was incarcerated at the Minidoka War Relocation Center, a concentration camp near Twin Falls, Idaho. When the opportunity to serve the US Army opened in 1943, he volunteered for the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. He fought in all the major battles of the European campaign with the 442nd. Shiro was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal, six Purple Hearts, two Bronze Stars and one Silver Star.
