Summary
This is a personal view of one of Canada's darker moments ?the internment of the Canadian Japanese during World War II. Author Joy Kogawa describes her experiences prior to and during the internment, and her subsequent need to cry out about the injustices to her people. The video mixes black and white archival footage with new footage. It also includes photographs, dramatic re-enactments, interviews with Joy and an elderly Japanese detainee, diary excerpts, poetry, and prose.
