Summary
"This paper is an attempt to explore the usefulness of a sociology-oriented approach to the study of folktales. Some sociological methods, such as the survey technique and the selection of a stratified sample have been used, and sociological ways of interpretation have been applied" (from the Introduction). The folktales studied are "The story of grandaunt tiger"; "Peach boy"; "The treasure bowl"; and "Duck King". Different versions of the first two are presented in Chinese.
