Summary
"In Ch'u, southernmost of the ancient Chinese kingdoms, an oral literature of shamanistic songs and chants was developed by secular poets of the third century B.C. into a strange and beautiful allegorical poetry in which magic, mythology and politics curiously intermingle. The Ch'u Tz'u anthology, dating from the second century A.D., is an early selection of works by the Ch'u poets and some of their later imitators" (from the back cover). Originally published in 1959.
