This dictionary of terms used in traditional Chinese medicine is organized into 12 topics: 1. Yin, yang, and the 'five elements'; 2. Internal organs; 3. 'Meridians' and accupuncture points; 4. The origins and pathology of illness; 5.Diagnostic methods; 6. Rules of treatment and herbal prescriptions; 7. Accupuncture and moxibustion therapies; 8. 'Internal' pediatric symptoms; 9. Gynecologic symptoms; 10. Trauma; 11. Eye, ear, nose, and throat symptoms; and 12. The history of Chinese medicine. There are appendicies on commonly-used single-character terms in Chinese medicine; a short bibliography of Chinese medicine; diagrams showing terms for the parts of the human body; and a table of equivalences of ancient and modern weights and measures. There is also an index of terms organized by stroke order and form.
