Summary
This is a character dictionary of the Chao-Shan dialect of Chinese spoken in the Chaozhou ('Teochew') - Shantou ('Swatow') area of Guangdong. It is a branch of Min-nan Chinese, which is otherwise spoken mainly in southern Fujian Province, the island of Taiwan and in Southeast Asia. Pronunciations of characters are given in both Putonghua ('Mandarin') and the Chao-Shan dialect. It contains numerous tables and charts to assist in pronunciation. The dictionary is arranged by 'radical' and stroke order, and is also indexed by both Putonghua and Chao-Shan dialects.
