Summary
H: 9" W: 6" D: 1.625" Red cloth covered hard back book in 2 volumes. On the front is an illustration in white and green witha cannon at the top and a smoke surrounded building below. In between is the title in gold. The author's name is below the illustration. There is a black and white photo in each volume before the title page. Volume I Title page reads "China in Convulsion by Arthur H. Smith, Twenty-nine years a Missionary of the American Board in China. Author of "Chinese Characteristics" and "Villiage LIfe in China" with numerous illustrations and Maps, In Two volumes, volume one, New York, Chicago, Toronto, Fleming H. Revell Company 1901." There is a purplr seal stamp at the bottom of the page. Volume II, title page si the same except for vol. number. the photo is of the first train passing through the wall of Peking. Its cover is faded and water damaged.
