Description
Eleven postcards of China, mostly of Mukden. The front has a caption in English and Japanese along the bottom. On the back is place or a postage stamp and it says at the top "Carte Postale." A: Black and White postcard, Japanese made, titled "The Hoorg Mukden." It shows the front of a large stone building with stairs. Three stories tall with tiled roof and up turned eaves. B: Black and White postcard, Japanese made, entitled "The Main building of the S.M.R. Hospital." It shows a curved road in front of a large building. There is a horse drawn cart in the foreground and two human powered carts behind it. C: Black and White postcard, Japanese made, entitled "The Hokuryo, Mukden." Two men stand in front of an ornate gate. On the wall to each side of the gate is a bas-relief dragon. The gate has a tile roof and curves eaves. D: Black and White postcard, Japanese made, entitled "Goat of Outside Castle Mukden." Herd of goats grazing in pasture. In the background is a wagon train and a large building. E: Black and White postcard, Japanese made, entitled " The Mukden Mint." A wide road lined with young trees leading to a sandstone building with central clock tower. F: Black and White postcard, Japanese made, entitled " The Mukden Imperial Palace." Angle view of building with slanted tile roof. Four pillars support a front porch and stone steps and banisters are in the front There is also a large stone lantern off to one side. G: Black and White postcard, Japanese made, entitled "The Chukaku Bank, Mukden." Ornate stone building with iron gate, towers to each side. Two rickshas are bing pulled along the street in front. H: Black and White postcard, Japanese made, entitled " The Hokuryo, Mukden." single building in center of yard surrounded by stone wall. Smaller building to either side. Main building is on platform. It has a tile roof, and a secondary roof on top. I: Black and White postcard, Japanese made, entitled "The Mukden Palace." Open field with a series of stone buildings in the background. Two men walk across the field. To the right is an open pavillion on raised platform. J: Black and White postcard, Japanese made, entitled "The Mukden Imperial Palace." A Grassy field and in the center is a round building with tile roof, four staircases, one in each side, and a series of small buildings expand out from both ends of the building. K: Black and White postcard, German made, entitled in German "German Captain and Chinese Governor." Group of Chinese officials in robes standing with German military officers in Tsianfu (?) L: Black and White postcard with tinted color, Japanese made, entitled "Shop of Laborers." Man standing with large basket of squash or gourds on his back. Sandals for sale are displayed next to him. M: Black and White postcard,color tinted, Japanese made, entitled "Poor Chinese Children." Shows a young boy with baby in cloth carrier strapped to his back. N: Black and White postcard, Japanese made, entitled "Feary (sic) Below the Han River." shows people climbing aboard a small passenger boat on the river shore. O: Black and White postcard, Japanese made, entitled "West Tower, Mukden." From an open field there is a large stone tower to the left. Small trees in front of the tower and to the right. A large building is in the background. The tower is round and has a short base, round middle section and thinner inverted cone on the top.
