Photographs of Gagaku Performance (Court Music and Dance) Set of black and white photographs of Gagaku Performance Photographs show performance in sequence. A - G: Photos of the stage, back drop and two large decorated drums with the audience on the left. On the stage approximately sixteen musicians dressed in traditional robes seated on the floor. Appear to be playing koto, flutes, gongs, drum, sho, and stringed instruments, possibly biwa. H - Q: Photos of four dancers on stage. Dressed in costumes consisiting of tunics and baggy pant and a train with a court hat. they are holding sticks resembling golf clubs. P & Q: Photos of dancer dressed in elaborate costume with fringed panel and train in the back. He is wearing a mask and a hood. possibly (Genjoraku) the left dance? At the edge of the stage is a musician playing a flute. P - AE: Four dancers on stage performing with striped poles in their hands.( Possibly Right Dancers) or (Bugaku).
