Black and white glossy view from above of the head table, and two tables nearby, at a dinner function attended by the mayor Approximately 15 people are seated at the head table, including the mayor and his wife (see 1994.39.2). The gathering is attended by a mix of people from various ethnic backgrounds. A man (of Chinese descent?) stands at the microphone. In the background is an American flag, a fire extinguisher, a door, and a piano. Many of the people seem to have their heads bowed and their eyes closed, as if in prayer. This photo was taken before the dinner was served. Pots of tea and Chinese soup bowls are on the dinner tables. Printed in the white border around the photographs is a circle logo with a photographer and camera silhouette and "Photo by Elmer Ogawa". Judging from the narrow width of the men's ties and the cat-eye eyeglasses worn by the mayor's wife, this photo must have been taken sometime in the 1960's.
