Yoshiko Funai Akamatsu's wedding portrait, Sept. 1933. Yoshiko was born on Bainbridge Island in 1910, and was raised by her grandparents in Japan. She returned to Seattle in 1928, and worked in her parents' sushi shop while attending Garfield High School, where she swam and played tennis. Her marriage to Jiro William Akamatsu was arranged by his sister, who had known Yoshiko in Japan. The couple moved to Omaha, Nebraska, then to St. Paul, Minnesota, and returned to Seattle in 1967. Jiro passed away shortly after returning; Yoshiko lived until 2003. Web Exhibition: #138
