Family portrait Shiga Family. Front row from left: Mayko; Juro Shiga (father); Sakiko; Yoshiko; Andrew Ichiro. Back row, from left: Hachiro "Hatch" Kita (Juro's cousin, who worked at Taiheiyo Sweater Company); Sumiko Hirano Shiga (mother); Michiko. Juro founded the Taiheiyo Sweater Company on Jackson Street in the late 1920s. The signing of Executive Order 9066 closed the company in February 1942. The Shiga family was forced to move from Seattle, and the sweater inventory and equipment was stored Ichiban Caf? in the Panama Hotel, along with the belongings of many other Japanese Americans for the duration of World War II. After World War II, son Andrew (Andy) used this salvaged inventory to start up his first store, Shiga's One World Shop, in Seattle's University District. The store opened a few years before the celebration of the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. (Also see 151, 163, 164, 216) Web Exhibition: #162
