Want to become a Youth Ambassador and go to Brazil?!

Hello! My name is Mia Stroutsos, and I’m a senior at Roosevelt High School. Last summer, I and 12 other high schoolers from around the country spent 3 weeks in Brazil on full scholarship as Youth Ambassadors for our country. Through the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and Office of Public
Affairs, and the U.S. Embassy in Brazil, we were able to gain leadership skills, learn about Brazil, and create lifelong friendships. The YA Program is focused on the importance of youth volunteerism and activism. It aims to promote mutual understanding between the people of the U.S. and Brazil and prepare youth leaders to become responsible citizens and contributing members of their communities through social justice.

Not enough can be said about how much of a life-changing experience this was for me.
But now, the floor is open for a new crop of Youth Ambassadors to help change the world! The program will be repeating, summer 2011. This is an amazing opportunity open to all King County high schoolers who:

-Are 15-17 years old this summer
-Are graduating 2012 or later
-Have NEVER traveled outside the USA, excepting Canada.

The attached application is due to the World Affairs Council in downtown Seattle on FEBRUARY 15. We would love it if you would open this opportunity to your students so they can apply.

Let me know ASAP if you are interested and want an application! :]
