Hakata Doll -- Prince Shotoku Taishi, black robe Bukan figure with hat A: Standing hollow painted pottery doll with hands crossed in front of chest and hidden inside robe. Black hat (Ken-no-kan) sits on crown with bulging piece on top back, black painted short hair cut across at nape, black eyebrows, eyelids, beard and moustache, pale peach closed mouth. Black robe (Muran-no-ho) painted floral design black on black, black and green obi, solid black below with silver arrow marks on either side of a circle, another obi purple, red and acqua chevrons on orange background, trimmed with painted gold fasteners, three layered panel hangs from left side, acqua, gray and white stripes ending in a decoration of shi shi with blue mouth, two toned red, gold eyes surrounded with beige and brown dots. Underneath robe is white hakama pants and hampi, black toe shoes. On left side a two slots for insertion of B. One bamboo spike protrudes from bottom of right foot. Two labels: "Sato Doll Company, Hakata, Japan", black label in shape of plum blossom "Made in Japan, S. Washable Patent". B: Pottery tachi sword, L: 8.25", W: .375", D: .25", handle, end and in three places are gold bands, between first and second wrap there is a figure 8 painted in off-white, painted black, embossed design on handle, bands and end portion, bamboo spokes protrude from first and second bands.
