Title strip of gray paper on left of front cover with black kanji title. Cover is bound to text by white cord tied in two places through two holes. The holes have metal eyelets which are rusty. The book is bound at two corners with burnt orange cloth. Front page is colorized photograph. The other photos are black and white and are of the various aspects of the temple complex. On the front cover is a strip of tan cloth, H: 8.375", outlined in black with eleven Chinese characters written vertically down the front of it. The pages fold out accordian style and are printed in black ink. Written on the back cover in black is: "A - 39" Written on the inside of the front cover is: "Taken from the archives of the old Buddhist temple of Cha-yung Ahr near Peking which was purchased by the Presbyterian missionaries for a summer sanitarium about 1875" There is an illustration of a buddhist figure at the end of the text. The front cover and front page have become separated from the rest of the text. The front cover and first page have become separated form the rest of the text.The cloth on the covers is worn, faded and completely worn from the edges of the covers. On the spine is the same title in English with "Revised Edition" and then the title in Chinese. The original edition was printed in 1904. A piece of grey cardboard has been glued to the inside front cover. The cover page has a red stamp on it that reads: "CHINA" Below this in pencil is "8065690" Chinese characteristics were written in black ink but have been ripped off. The cover is wrinkled and worn. The back cover top corner has been folded back. The pages are yellowed along the edges. 1913

The title is at the top embossed in gold and black and then there are 5 diamond shapes with floral designs. At the bottom is "NYK OFFICIAL GUIDE" The right side of the spine and the left edge of the front cover have masking tape over them. The inside of the front cover is a map of the world. There is a purple round stamp at the top: "Property of the Rainier Club. Do Not Remove" There is a penciled signature at the top of the inside page and in the upper right corner is : 69.99" Half of a yellow Goodwill sticker is below this. The inside back cover also has a purple round stamp from the Rainier Club. Found inside the book is a receipt - B. The book has glossy pages with black and white photographs, illustrations and advertisements and color photographs. Each section has a thumb indentation on the outside page edges.
